Founder & Family Nurse Practitioner

Kelly Love-Schwarz, Family Nurse Practitioner

My journey to becoming a Nurse Practitioner was not a straight path. And that is exactly what makes me passionate about the care I provide.

My Story

While some people know exactly what they want to do from a young age, I found my way through life the way most of us do. I was searching for where I fit and where I could truly make a difference.

I once dreamed of becoming a physician, but after learning about the realities of medical school and residency, I changed direction. I tried pharmacy school, but quickly realized it was not the right fit either. After working in the travel industry, the events of September 11th prompted me to seek a more fulfilling career helping others.

That is when I began my nursing journey. I earned my CNA certification, then became an LPN while working as a CNA. I continued this path, becoming an RN while working as an LPN, and eventually earning my BSN, MSN in Nursing Informatics, and dual certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. All of this while working full-time and raising my family.

I have cared for patients in the Neuro ICU, Neuro Step-Down, and later in Population Health. I focused on care transitions and remote physiological monitoring to keep patients healthy at home.

My Philosophy

I believe strongly in patient education and shared decision-making. When you understand what is happening in your body, you become an active partner in your health. My goal is to help you achieve the best health possible throughout every stage of life.

I practice under a collaborating agreement with a physician as required by Virginia law. This practice is 100% self-funded and built with love for the Cumberland community.

“My passion is to do my best to ensure you have the best health you can have. But you have to do the hard work to make self-improvements possible.”
